self-branding

The last of our top 5 “Killer” reasons why so many internet marketers fail online is the apparent Lack of “Self Branding” or commonly called “Social Branding”.

Social Branding (SB) is the Personal Unique Selling Position (USP) that sets you apart from the millions of internet marketers out there.

It is kind of like building other people’s general awareness and perception of you and holds the key to establishing an “Invincible” position for you and your online business.

Without Social Branding, no matter what you or your business promote will usually be futile and that is why so many internet marketers fail online.

Most internet newbies think that if they have a good product, set up a cool looking website, drive traffic to it and their online business will take off.

If you are really lucky, perhaps you will make a couple of sales but probably not in the long run.

Social branding is essential to an internet marketer as people generally trust and in turn will buy more often from someone whom they perceive as being more credible or reputable in their respective fields.

It’s a psychological thing, but believe me when I say that most people simply trusts recognizable names and branded stuff more.

A simple scenario will put my point across, for example if both you, a internet newbie and a well known internet marketing guru are simultaneously promoting an identical product to a group of online users in a forum.

Who do you think these users will buy from? The answer is pretty obvious right?

It is not that your product is in any way inferior to the Guru’s, it’s just that people prefer to buy from people who has pre-established their online credibility and reputation.

Building your own branding in the online community doesn’t happen overnight, so don’t rush it.

Credibility and trust are just like a relationship, it takes time and effort to build but can be lost in a split second if not properly handled.

Some of the methodologies that can help establish your online reputation and social branding include the following :

(1) Be Proactive :

  • Contribute and participate actively in forums.
  • Join social media sites like flickr, twitter, facebook etc and create more awareness by forming your own niche group.
  • Give your views & comments on other people’s blogs with similar niche themes.

(2) Differentiate Yourself From The Rest Of The Pack.

  • If everyone in you niche is “zigging”, then you must be “zagging” in order to distinguish yourself from the rest of the pack.
  • Try adding your own unique dash of personality to your comments, posts and advice.

(3) Position Yourself As An Expert In Your Niche.

  • Start your own blog or site specializing in a particular niche you have expert knowledge on, one where you can provide valuable advice.
  • Create you own reports that give away targeted information.

(4) Establish Good Relationships With Key Players In Your Niche.

  • Identify established like-minded people from your niche, exchange and share valuable information with them.
  • Gain trust and credibility through beneficial joint ventures and allow them to promote and launch you when the time is right.

TOP 5 “KILLER” REASONS WHY INTERNET MARKETERS FAIL ONLINE! ( Part 4 of 5 )

information-overload

To me, the excessive amount of “Knowledge” one has to pick up in the beginning stages, not to mention the subsequent truck load of “Work” that comes with implementing the acquired knowledge is the fourth “Killer” reason why most aspiring internet marketers fail online.

Continual learning is an important and integral part of any internet marketer and the failure to put into practice what you learned often leads to one’s downfall.

“Information Overload” is what is keeping so many internet marketers from achieving their online goals and dreams.

There are so many things to learn and do when you are first starting out in internet marketing and this sheer burst of knowledge & work is already enough to put many newbies dead in their tracks.

Of course you can always outsource everything to web designers and programmers if you happen to have a whole load of cash stashed away somewhere.

But mind you, you don’t learn anything if you don’t get your hands dirty.

Allow me better illustrate by going through some of the processes an internet newbie goes through in the initial stages.

Most of us generally begin by surfing the internet looking for a profitable niche market or program to join.

Sounds easy enough? Unfortunately, this simple task is the most tedious exercise an internet newbie has to go through as it ultimately determines their future success.

Collecting, analyzing & hopefully matching their hobbies or areas of expertise with a profitable niche market requires heaps of time and effort.

Some simply hop from one “Good” opportunity to another “Better” one and never seem to start on any at all. Sound familiar?

Sometimes, in their pursuit of making a fortune online, internet newbies would sign up for every single newsletter, e-books&  report giveaways and e-courses they come across in an attempt to try to get as much information as possible.

Most end up with inboxes jammed packed with so much new information that they have barely enough time to read and comprehend.

Believe it or not, but most internet marketers never managed to completely finish reading any of these info-products, even the ones they fork out hard earned money to buy.

This is because the information contained in these info-products often contain links that lead to even more information on other websites.

And this continual linking of information is a never ending cycle.

Even if the information contained in these info-products are worth its value in gold, most won’t realize it if they don’t read it right?

Furthermore, acquiring information doesn’t equate to attaining knowledge and knowledge doesn’t equate to success if you don’t put what you learned into practice right?

Unfortunately, these “Killer” traits are very common among most internet marketers today and must be rectified if one is to achieve any form of success online.
