How To Monetarize Your Blog With Google Adsense

Posted in: Pay Per Click Biz Model |

For those who wish to earn a substantial income through blogging, then putting Google AdSense ads on your blog is a “MUST”.

Who knows when an avalanche of visitors might swarm your site if you happen to blog about certain topics that people love to read about?

Simply follow the step by step guide listed below and you could well be on your way to earning a FAT paycheck from Google without even realizing it.

Note that this step by step guide is specifically intended for users who have installed Word-Press Blogs on Self-Hosted Domains.

STEP No. 1

Get an AdSense account from the world’s greatest source of free internet monies, the almighty Goggle.

Apply for your Free AdSense account and kick start the bankroll.

Just to let you know, it takes Google a couple of days to review and approve your application, that is provided your Word-Press blog is already up and running.

Once approved, log in to Google AdSense and go through the simple instructions to customize your AdSense code in terms of color, size, layout, positioning etc.

You can also choose to display ads in text format or graphics format or even both. The choice is entirely up to your own discretion.

If you run multiple sites or blogs, you make also make use of Google’s Channels function to determine which positions on which sites have the most popular click trough rates and are making you the most profits.

You can go explore how to optimize channels at your own leisure.

Once you have customized your AdSense ads, a set of HTML codes will be produced for you to paste onto your blog or site.

STEP No. 2

The next logical step is pasting whatever AdSense codes you got onto your blog.

First, log on to your Word-Press Dashboard from the Meta section of your blog. Once you are logged on, click on the “Presentation” or “Design” text button ( Depending on the version of WP you are using ) on the horizontal light blue menu followed by the text button on the subsequent page.

It will then bring you to a page where there are varying numbers of vertical boxes titled “Sidebar #” ( # depends on the columns of the theme chosen less the main post column) and a horizontal box titled “Available Widgets”.

You can add or delete the number of “Text Widgets” and “RSS Feed Widgets” found in the “Available Widgets” box by varying the numbers “1” to “9”  in the pull down menu. Always remember to save after making the changes.

Next, drag any of the smaller boxes titled “Text #” in the “Available Widgets” box onto any of the “Sidebar #” boxes. These “Sidebar #” boxes actually represent the columns on the main presentation page of your blog.

For example, if you have chosen a 3 column template with the main post column located in the middle, then “Sidebar 1” may represent the RHS column while “Sidebar 2” may represent the LHS or vice versa.

Likewise, the position from top to bottom on the “Sidebar #” box that you have dragged and dropped the smaller box “Text #” in determines the position it will appear on the presentation page. Try experimenting with it until you find a suitable position.

Hope I have not confused anyone yet or are you already having the “Deer in the head lights look”?

Next double click on the small “Page” like icon on right side of the newly positioned “Text #” box. A title box as well as a body text box should automatically appear. Now is the time to paste the previously obtained AdSense code into the body text and give it a suitable name in the title box.

A word of caution though, please do not be a smart “A#S” and name it something like “Please Click Below”, Google have very strict rules on “Call To Action” instructions

They will absolutely ban your site for this, so don’t do it, period. If everything thing is done properly, your AdSense ads will be up and running on your blogs in no time. But this is not the end of the road…….yet.

STEP No. 3

Last but not least, comes the testing stage, where we test the visual presentation of the AdSense ads.

Always remember to review how your AdSense ads will appear on your blogs as it may appear distorted to some viewers although it looks fine from your screen.

I reckon there must be a million “Question marks” hanging over your head by now.

In case you are not aware, let me enlighten you on some fascinating fact about internet user all over the world.

Correct me if I am wrong, but most of us will typically assume that majority of all online users use Internet Explorer as their main web browser because it is hard wired into our PC’s OS.

But there are in fact so many other forms of browsers out there in the market like Amaya, AOL Explorer, Arachne, Arlington Kiosk, Avant, Camino, Dillo, Elinks, Epiphany, Flock, Galeon, iCab, K-Meleon, KioWare, Konqueror, Links, Lynx, Maxthon, Mosaic, Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape, OmniWeb, SeaMonkey, Safari, Opera and Off By One.Do not worry though, you just need to focus on one other browser, and that is Mozilla Firefox. You must now be wondering why is that so? The answer is actually mathematically very simple. These online users who use other browsers like the vastly popular Mozilla Firefox constitutes about 30% to 35% of all online users all over the world. Now the big question is that can you afford to lose one third of the visitors that visit your blog and finds a missing or distorted AdSense ads flowing all over the page?

Imagine how much AdSense revenue you will be losing.

That is why you should always test the visual presentation of your AdSense blogs on these 2 major browsers. And the best thing is that you can actually download Mozilla Firefox with Google Toolbar built into in absolutely free.

Ain’t Google the best? Hope the info provided is relevant and happy blogging with AdSense.
