Tips & Insights To Help Maximize Your Adsense Revenue

Posted in: Pay Per Click Biz Model |

I always believe that “Knowledge Is Power” and in my personal view, the internet is all about the efficient transfer of “Updated” knowledge.

Reckon this is especially evident in the ever changing internet marketing arena.

New stuffs are always popping up from time to time, newer and better information and strategies are constantly being introduced to replace the out-dated and redundant ones.

Personally, I have gone through a couple of Adsense guides like Adsense Arbitrage Voodoo, 3 Dollar Theory and a couple of other Adsense related products I borrowed from my Internet Marketing buddies.

All of them are quite informative and have managed to help me generate more click throughs in my Adsense account.

But my all time favorite Adsense Strategies are still from the Master Adwords Optimizer, Mr. Simon Leung himself.

Simon’s Adwords List Building program doesn’t just focus on the insider secrets to building a massive and targeted opt-in list using Google Adwords strategies, it also includes tons of never before revealed Google Adsense and Internet Marketing tips and strategies he has gained from working as an employee of Google in the past.

And in my never-ending pursue of the underlying mechanism that makes Adsense tick, I noticed that certain strategies revealed in all these guides are arbitrary similar in nature.

And these so-called “Pillar Strategies” doesn’t seem to be affected by the passage of time, at least not within these 2 years.

These are the observations I noticed, the first few are quite obvious but still worth a mention to drive the message across.

1) Traffic! Traffic! Traffic!

How many times more must we stress this important factor again?

The amount of traffic on one’s web site is the main factor that determines how much one can make from Google Adsense as this usually determines the number of clicks one can get.

2) Content! Content! Content!

Content Is King” used to be the most popular phrase used by most gurus to highlight the importance of getting visitors to your site.

Now, there’s a new version, it’s “Unique & Updated Content Is The New King”.

With the rampant widespread of PLR articles on the internet, it’s harder for webmasters to get new and unique content nowadays, of course unless you wish to write everything yourself.

It is generally known that the quality of your site’s content is a major contributor to the Click Through Rate (CTR) from your site visitors.

Sites with high quality and informative content will ensure that visitors return to that site again and again and subsequently give them additional clicks.

3) Ad’s Format & Positioning

The ad formats on a website is another important factor that determines the amount of clicks that your site gets.

Statistical data have shown that “Large Rectangular Ads” placed in between content is known to give the highest payoffs as visitors have to scan and read through your ads while reading the contents on your article or posts.

Vertical Skyscrapers Ads” are known to perform the worst, but I tend to disagree on this.

In my view, “Vertical Skyscrapers Ads” are still effective if you happen to have a 3-Column site or blog like mine.

The reason being that if you place your content on one side and your major categories or post titles on the other end, viewers ultimately still have to scan across the ads placed on your middle column to read what is on the other side, increasing the chances of a click-through if they find something interesting.

Search Boxes” tend to perform better if it is placed on the extreme top or bottom of a page, usually at the end of an article or post.

4) Ad’s Color Coding

Blending of Ads with colors also has an effect on CTR.

Many webmasters choose to blend their ads with the same color as their websites so as to achieve a sense of “Uniformity”.

The purpose if to try to make visitors feel that they are not “Hard-Selling” them with Ads, nobody wishes to be pushed into buying something they do not want right?

While others try to use contrasting bright colors so as to attract more attention for visitors to click on these ads.

My take on this is that we should use a combination of both, try to blend the text with the a shade brighter than the rest of your site but try to avoid using too striking colors that will distract your viewers attention as ultimately people visit your sites to get information on updated content and not to click on bright attractive texts.

5) Website Design

This is another unmentioned but understood fact.

The better your site is designed, the higher you’re going to be ranked and the more visitors you will have and the higher chance of CTR.

Ultimately, appearance does matter, if you have a more professional looking site, chances are the more you’re going to see success with Google Adsense.

The way your site is structured and organized has a direct impact in bringing more new visitors as well as keeping those existing ones returning, thus increasing the chances of a higher CTR.

6) Reverse Engineering & Testing

Like what most gurus would say, there is no need to re-invent the wheel, what works for them will probably work for you too. Just be diligent and do your research.

Know who your top ranked competitors are by doing a search on Google and stay on top of their progress.

Also look out also for similar themed sites that are enjoying higher traffic and rankings.

Find out the kind of content they are putting up that are attracting the most traffic and follow what they are doing and come out with similar themed ones. More traffic means higher CTR.

Follow how they are structuring and placing their ads and follow suit to see if there are any significant improvements in your CTR.

Always test and re-test to see which works better.

If you don’t have traffic monitoring software on your site, you can get a FREE one at www.precisioncounter.com.

Lastly, don’t take shortcuts or look for unorthodox black hat strategies that are going to ultimately result in a poorly designed site with no traffic or have worthless content together with a whole bunch of ads plastered all over your site.

Building a long term Adsense income requires continual effort and it usually takes half a year to a year for any site or blog to gradually mature and get enough traffic to ensure sufficient CTR that will generate significant Adsense revenue.
