Have You Got What It Takes To Be Successful Online?

The vast reach and massive potential of the internet has lead to the rapid rise of countless online businesses in recent years.
Starting your own business on the internet is not difficult but to be truly successful online, well, that is a completely whole new ball game on its own.
In fact, you need to possess the right type of success qualities and make a couple of major mindset changes before you can even reach your goal of achieving online success on a long term basis.
With an increase in the number of new online business start ups, the level of drop outs and online failures has also correspondingly spiked.
Without the proper knowledge, experience and the correct success mindset needed to survive in the online business world, many first-time business owners are on the losing end of the stick.
THE NEED FOR A CHANGE OF MINDSET
Chances are majority of most beginner online business owners will probably fail, not because of the lack of opportunities but due to the lack of the correct entrepreneur mindset needed to succeed online.
Continual learning, proper planning and efficient time management are essential if not critical. Without the mastery of these key elements, your online business probably cannot go past the first few months of operation.
The internet is not a stepping stone or tool for people who do not have the strong financial backing, business experience and resources to open up a bricks and mortar business in the offline world. Surviving online does not mean making a couple of sales each month and having just enough profits to pay off the rent and live to fight another day.
In order to succeed online, you need to first change the way you think and work.
A business that fails is a business that doesn’t prepare itself for success.
Success Management is the process of learning and understanding how to position your online business so that it can reach potential customers all over the world.
In order to succeed online, you first need to understand 2 essential elements of Success Management, namely “Time Management” and “Financial Management”.
Remember, managing your time and your funds are the top priorities you should be concentrating on, not which colour should you choose for your logo or website.
PROPER TIME MANAGEMENT
If you are good at time management and planning, then you are already one step ahead of the rest.
Many online business start-ups fail because most of these beginner internet entrepreneurs cannot gasp the underlying concept behind “Time Management” as a business owner as compared to that of an employee.
Most first time internet entrepreneur come from a working class background where the 8 to 5 employee mindset has been engraved deeply onto the canvas of their mind.
They are so used to having a Boss hovering over their necks barking orders to get things done that once they literally become their own “Boss”, they are at a loss for direction.
Many employee turned business owners have the misconception that online entrepreneurs have loads of time freedom and can start and stop work as they please.
This is a grave mistake that leads to the downfall of most new online business start-ups.
In fact, most beginner internet entrepreneurs have to work even longer hours in the initial foundation phase just to keep pace with their more experienced and business savvy competitors in the online world.
PROPER FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
The effective management of the limited financial assets most online entrepreneurs have in the initial stages are essential to ensuring future business substantiality.
Analyse and spend your limited funds only on resources that brings about the maximum returns for your online business.
In a nutshell, invest wisely on methodologies such as getting targeted traffic and advertisements that gets you sales and income.
Always re-invest a certain portion of whatever earnings you made back into your online business instead of spending it all away.
Personally, my take on the optimum financial balance is a 65% to 35% ratio, meaning that if I made $1000 for that month, I would re-invest $650 back into my online business for advertising and keep $350 for my own personal expenses.
I have the habit of “Rewarding” myself if i have done a good job, it kind of gives joy when i strive to “Work Harder”.
PRIORITISING YOUR GOALS
Goal setting is another important aspect of achieving online success.
The goals you set should be specific, realistic goals and with a deadline.
Simply saying I want to be a success online is not a goal. You need to set goals that give you something to aim towards, something to strive for.
For example, you want to have your website completely finished and live in one month is a good goal, it includes what you want to achieve, it’s realistic and it has a deadline.
Create lists of what you want to achieve, when you want to achieve them as well as what you have already done.
Prioritize these goals according to importance and work on them whole heartily and you could well be on your way to achieving online success.
To make sure you don’t lose track of any operations you have done, it’s always best to make a note of things. Keeping a record of completed tasks not just serves as a mechanism for tracking your progress, it also gives you a sense of accomplishment for all your hard work and online endeavours.
FOCUS, FOCUS & FOCUS
This is the final but definitely one of the most important qualities that you should possess.
If you have focus and know what you want to do and achieve, then you will definitely go a long way.
Information overload is one of the major “Killers” of most aspiring online entrepreneurs.
There are only so many different business models and paths to online success that one can take.
But the truth is that there is only 24 hours in a day, so be selective and choose the business model that is most suited for you and your online business.
Almost every other day, you can find another new “Get Rich Quick” E-Book or program popping up somewhere on the internet that promises to help make you an online millionaire overnight.
Don’t be tempted by passing fads, stick to your chosen business model and focus.
When faced with difficulties, always focus on one thing at a time, don’t clutter your thoughts with several problems, properly list them in order of priority and work through them neatly and efficiently.
Concentration is a key skill in this business and if you don’t have the concentration to stick with your idea and business then you might as well give up, keeping a note of your dealings can sometimes help you with this problem.
In my opinion, no matter what niche business you chose to go into, if you possess the correct success mindset, then success is only a matter of time.
